Mikhail Razvozhaev, the Russia-appointed “governor” of the annexed Crimean port city of Sevastopol, has reported a Ukrainian missile attack on a “non-civilian facility” in Pivdenna Bay on the night of September 13.
As he later specified, the strike caused a fire at the southern site of the Sevastopol Shipyard. Preliminary reports suggest 24 injured as a result of the attack. Four are in a moderately severe state.
Russia's Ministry of Defense has confirmed the strike and announced that air defense forces shot down seven out of ten missiles and that the attack damaged two vessels under repair. Furthermore, according to the Russian MoD, a Russian Black Sea Navy detachment was attacked by three “unmanned motorboats”.
As evidenced by satellite images taken on September 12, the shipyard dock contained a Project 775 Ropucha-class landing ship (Minsk) and a Project 877/636 Kilo/Improved Kilo-class submarine (Rostov-na-Donu).
Ukraine is yet to claim responsibility for the attack.
